pick up

pick up sth/sb or pick sth/sb up - 1) to lift something or someone by using your hands; 2) to collect someone who is waiting for you, or to collect something that you have left somewhere or that you have bought 
pick up sth or pick sth up - 1) to get or buy something when you have gone to a place to do something else; 2) to buy something cheaply; 3) to learn a new skill or language by practising it rather than being taught it; 4) to learn interesting or useful information [e.g. idea, tip, gossip] from someone or something; 5) if a device picks up a signal or programmes broadcast by a radio station, it receives them; 6) to become aware of a smell, or to notice something that someone has left which can help you to find them; 7) to notice a mistake in a piece of writing; 8) to get an infectious illness from someone or something; etc.  
pick up (sth) or pick (sth) up - to start something again [e.g. story, relationship] from the point where you had stopped 
pick up sb or pick sb up - 1) if you pick someone up while you are travelling in a vehicle or boat, you allow them to get in your vehicle or boat so that you can take them somewhere; 2) to start talking to someone you do not know because you want to have a sexual relationship with them; 3) if the police pick someone up, they arrest them or they take them somewhere in order to ask them questions 
pick yourself up - to stand up again after you have fallen 
pick up sth - if a vehicle or ship picks up speed or steam, it starts to go faster 
pick up on sth - 1)
to notice something that a lot of other people have not noticed; 2) to react to something that you have noticed or something that has happened 

pick * up* - При переводе этого глагола, рекомендую сначала использовать русское слово/понятие "взять". Взять, в широком смысле слова, можно: книгу, чемодан, деньги, пассажира, преступника, привычку, след, информацию, инфекцию, сигнал, запах и т.д

1) в большинстве случаев в буквальном смысле: взять, брать, поднять, подбирать, собирать, подхватить, схватить что-л./кого-л. руками, в руки, на руки; 2) то же самое по смыслу в ситуации -  взять, поднять, снять телефонную трубку; 3) забрать, взять кого-л./что-л. (любым видом не общественного транспорта, пешком и т.п.);

Другие значения встречаются гораздо реже: 4) арестовать, взять, забрать, схватить и т.п.; 5) быстро схватывать, нахвататься (знания и т.п.), подцепить (выражения и т.п.), научиться (приемам и т.п.), приобрести (привычки и т.п.); 6) познакомиться, "подцепить", например в баре и т.п.; 7) подхватить (тему, смех и др.); 8) собирать, добывать (сведения, информацию и т.п.).

pick up* - встреч. редко: 1) обнаружить, поймать, уловить, учуять (запах, звук, сигнал, энергию, волны, настроение, мысли и т.д.); 2) набирать, увеличивать, ускорять (скорость, темп, звук, силу и т.п.) и др.

go on - 1) to continue doing something; 2) to continue to exist or happen; 3) to happen (What's going on?); 4) to talk in an annoying way about something for a long time; 5) to continue moving or travelling in a particular direction; 6) if a light or other electrical device goes on, it begins to work

Трудный глагол, частотность его употребления очень высока, а его значение полностью зависит от контекста речи (так же как, например, русское "давай" может иметь любой подтекст). 1) go on! продолжай(те)!; давай(те)!; 2) продолжать(ся); 3) происходить (going on); 4) продолжать путь; 5) зажечься (о свете) и др

1) go on! в форме приказа, совета, просьбы означает: а) продолжай(те), очень часто – говорить; реже – делать что-л.; б) давай(те)!, вперед!, начинай!, двигайся!, проходи!, уходи! и т.п., что от части соответствует come on. Но go on более прямолинеен, прост и категоричен, а come on часто несет оттенок упрека "ну давай же, хватит сидеть";

2) продолжаться; продолжать что-л. делать, чем-л. заниматься. Примерно соответствует пункту 1-а; go on withпродолжать заниматься чем-л.; 3) происходить, случаться (часто в негативном смысле), практически всегда только с going on: а) единственная формулировка – what is (was очень редко) going on? (суперчасто); б) другие случаи (гораздо реже); 4) идти, ехать (дальше), продолжать путь; 5) вспыхивать, зажечься, гореть (о свете)

get out - 1) to move out of a vehicle; 2) to go out to different places and meet people in order to enjoy yourself; 3) if news or information gets out, people hear about it even though someone is trying to keep it secret 
get (sb) out - to escape from or leave a place, or to help someone do this 
get out sth or get sth out - 1) to remove dirt or an unwanted substance from a piece of material; 2) to succeed in making a product so that it is available for people to buy, especially a book or record; 3) to succeed in saying something, especially when this is difficult 
get out of sth/doing sth -
to avoid doing something that you should do, often by giving an excuse 

get out и get out of*  (чаще с of) - 1) уходить, уезжать, убираться, сваливать, проваливать (ofиз, от); также совет, приказ; 2) выходить, вылезать (ofиз); также совет, приказ ( обычно с этими значениями глагол неразделяемый, но "крепкие" словечки, типа the hell вставляются внутрь); 3) "выходить" переносно: избавиться, отделаться, выйти из ситуации; издаваться, распространяться и т.п.

get * out и get * out of* (чаще с of) 1) вынимать, вытаскивать, убрать что-л. или кого-л. откуда либо (ofиз, от); 2) то же в переносном смысле. В разговорном языке out of часто сокращается до outta/outa.

come on - 1) if something [e.g. lights, heating] or a supply of something [e.g. water, electricity] comes on, it starts working; 2) if a radio or television programme comes on, it starts being broadcast; 3) to improve a skill, or to make progress; 4) if an illness, a feeling, or a mood comes on, it starts; 5) if a season or period of time is coming on, it is getting near; 6) to appear in a play, film, or television or radio programme; 7) (British & Australian, literary) if rain comes on, it starts 
 come on (sth) - to start speaking on the telephone 
come on sth American & Australian, informal - to behave in a way that makes other people think that you have a particular characteristic 
come on to sb informal -
to show someone that you are sexually attracted to them 

К фразовым глаголам здесь не относятся все случаи движения в буквальном смысле (таких в этом разделе совсем не много).

(на первые два значения приходится 75-80% случаев употр.): 1) давай!, живее!, вперед!, пошли! (последнее чаще всего); 2) брось!, перестань!, кончай!, хватит!, ладно тебе!; 3) проходить, двигаться; приходить, приезжать; в частности: (а) come on in входить; (б) come on out выходить; а также: ~ down спускаться; ~ up подниматься, ~ upstairs по лестнице; ~ back возвращаться и др.; 4) "прийти" может все, что угодно, но по-русски часто заменяется более подходящим словом: свет- вспыхнуть, зажечься; ветер, комары- налететь; прогноз погоды, новости, головная боль- начаться; ночь, темнота наступить и т.п.

Не является фразовым глаголом если предлог on относится к существительному; например: come on duty заступать/приходить на дежурство

come out - 1) to leave a room, building, or covered place; 2) to go somewhere with someone for a social event; 3) if dirt or colour comes out of something, especially clothing or cloth, it disappears or becomes less strong after being in water; 4) if something that is published [e.g. book, newspaper], a musical recording [e.g. single, album], or a film comes out, it becomes available for people to buy or see it; 5) if the truth about something comes out, it becomes known publicly after it has been kept secret; 6) if results or information come out, they are given to people; 7) if a characteristic of a thing or a person comes out during an activity or a process, you realise that it exists; 8) if the sun, the moon, or a star comes out, it appears in the sky; 9) if flowers or plants come out, the flowers grow and open; 10) if something you say comes out in a particular way, you say it in that way; 11) (British) if workers come out, they stop working because of a disagreement with their employers 

come out of sth - 1) if something comes out of a process or an event, it is one of the results; 2) to stop being in a particular state [e.g. recession, retirement]

come in - 1) if someone comes in when you are in a room or building, they enter that room or building; 2) if a train, bus, ship, or aircraft comes in, it arrives at the place it is travelling to; 3) if news, a result, a letter, or a telephone call comes in, it is received; 4) if something comes in, it arrives at a shop or place of work and becomes available to buy or to use; 5) if work comes in, a company is asked to do it; to start speaking during a discussion; 6) to be useful for something; 7) to become involved in something which a group of people are planning; etc.  

 

come into swh - if someone comes into the room or building that you are in, they enter that room or building 
come into sth - 1) to arrive at the place where you work; 2) to get money from someone who has died; 3) to begin to exist or happen, or to begin to be fashionable 

1) входить; приходить, прибывать; 2) прибывать (о поезде и т.п.); поступать (почта и т.п.); 3) вступать (в должность, дело и т.п.) и др.

Согласно словарям, к фразовым глаголам относят и случай с последующим дополнением (глагол come + предлог in, а чаще into + дополнение), например: I heard my mother came in (into) the room. Я слышал, (как) моя мать вошла в комнату

look for sth/sb - to try to find something or someone, either because you have lost them or because you need them 
look for sth -
if you are looking for a solution to a problem, you are trying to decide what that solution is 

look for* - искать, подыскивать, присматривать, практически только одно значение, причем около 75% с формой looking; а) обычно с простым дополнением после; б) очень редко дополнение встречается перед глаголом или бывает выражено придаточным предложением; в) в вопросах к дополнению.

get (sb) up - to wake up and get out of bed, or to make someone do this 
get up - 1) to stand up; 2) (British & Australian) if the wind gets up, it starts to become much stronger 
get up sth or get sth up - 1) to organize something; 2) (American) to learn something or develop your knowledge of something 
get sb up informal - to dress someone in a particular type of clothing, especially unusual clothing

come up against sth/sb - to have to deal with a difficult situation or someone who disagrees with you or tries to stop you doing what you want to do 
come up for sth - to become available for a particular purpose
come up to sth - to reach an acceptable or expected standard 
come up with sth -
to think of or to suggest a plan or idea, a solution to a problem, or an answer to a question

come up to* - 1) подходить, приближаться, приезжать; 2) увеличиваться, доходить, достигать (цены; уровень жидкости и т.п.)

look down

look down on sb/sth - to think that someone is less important than you, or to think that something is not good enough quality for you to use 
В Cambridge International Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs приводится только одно это значение (смотреть свысока, пренебрежительно), все остальные случаи, то есть не в переносном, а в прямом смысле - не считаются фразовыми глаголами.

1) смотреть (вниз), в отличие от look backоглянуться, для этого сочетания в русск. яз. нет специального слова и, при наличии объекта (обычно at, реже onна), мы обычно говорим, и переводим, как просто "смотреть": на стол, на пол, на улицу (из окна) и т.п. А в англ. языке чуть-чуть ниже уровня глаз, и часто встретишь look down (но не строго, бывает просто look at, on); 2) при отсутствии объекта - смотреть вниз, иногда как потупить взор (от смущения и т.п.)

look down - реже встречается, когда down употребляется не как наречие, а как предлог со значением "вдоль". (Здесь вы не обнаружите at или on.)

go out - 1) to leave a place in order to go somewhere else; 2) if news or a message goes out, it is officially announced or sent to someone; 3) if a light goes out, it stops giving light; 4) if something which is burning [e.g. fire] goes out, it stops burning; 5) if a radio or television programme goes out, it is broadcast sent out; 6) to become old-fashioned, or to stop existing or being used 
go out for sth American - to try to be chosen for a place on a sports team, or to take part in some other activity 
go out of sb/sth - if a quality, especially a good quality, goes out of someone or something, they do not have it any more 
go out to swh - to travel to another country, often to stay there for a long time 
go out together, go out with sb - to have a romatic relationship with someone

pull out - 1) отъезжать, уезжать, выезжать, трогаться, отходить (ofот, станции и т.п.); 2) в сценариях – "отъезд/удаление" (камеры)

В Cambridge International Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs приводится только одно это значение, все остальные случаи, то есть не в переносном, а в прямом смысле - не считаются фразовыми глаголами.

1) оглядываться, оборачиваться- в прямом смысле (at- на); 2) реже - оглядываться (в перен. смысле) - обращаться к прошлому, вспоминать; 3) гораздо реже, но встречается, посмотреть в ответ на чей-то взгляд

Видно, что к фразовым глаголам не относятся наиболее часто встречаемые случаи употребления этого словосочетания - движение, перемещение вниз, вдоль, из, от, за и т.п. Из этого обширного набора случаев упоминается лишь единственный: to travel south to a place - отправиться на юг к какому-либо месту.

go down - 1) движение вниз: спускаться, опускаться, падать, идти, ехать вниз; 2) движение не вниз: пойти, поехать (за город, из центра, но часто добавка down ни чем не обусловлена, просто манера конкретного автора); 3) садиться (о солнце); 4) уменьшаться, падать, снижаться (о ценах), затухать, умирать, затонуть и др.

go down - не фразовый глагол, если далее следует дополнение: а) спускаться по, идти, ехать вниз по чему-л.; б) идти, ехать вдоль чего-л.
